About
Post-Carbon Buffalo is an organization devoted to maximizing the advantages Buffalo has vis-a-vis other cities as we progress into an era of scarce fossil fuel resources. We will work to reform local transportation, agricultural, architectural, urban planning, and energy policies to reverse the effects of suburban development and resource waste that have left our city and nation vulnerable to economic and social distress or collapse when oil and natural gas are no longer cheap and abundant. Above all, the group is devoted to making our city a sustainable, viable community that will remain a healthy urban hub for generations to come.
With this blog, Post-Carbon Buffalo officers and researchers will document their progress towards goals such as the adoption of a municipal Oil Depletion Protocol, the reinvigoration of rail transit, support and development of localized, sustainable agriculture, energy conservation and reduction initiatives, support for local retailers and trade workers, and general education on issues related to resource depletion and strategies for Buffalo’s successful transition to a sustainable post-fossil fuel economy.
